Dorchester Collection’s Beverly Hills Hotel, now a century-old landmark, implements a roster of environmental advances designed to support the hotel’s strong commitment to positively impact the environment both at home and around the world.

Included among the hotel’s list of extensive green initiatives are participation in “Clean the World’s” soap donation program, a four Key Rating with Green Key Global’ s eco-rating program, green purchasing practices, and energy efficient lighting upgrades.
"As The Beverly Hills Hotel celebrates its centennial anniversary and enters into the next century, there is no better time to strengthen our commitment to preserve and enhance our natural environment," says Whitney Hoover, Engineering Administrative Operations Manager. "This exciting time in our history has us further developing a program that aligns with Dorchester Collection's Corporate Responsibility model while remaining inclusive of components that reflect the unique heritage of our iconic property," she adds.
Since recently partnering with “Clean the World” in June of this year, the hotel has donated more than 1,643 pounds of bottled guestroom amenities and in excess of 3,360 bars of soap to the global relief organization. The contributed items are shipped from the hotel to the Clean the World’s Recycling Operations Center in Orlando, Florida where they are sanitized and then provided to homeless shelters and impoverished individuals in 30 countries around the world. In a similar vein and closer to home, partially used rolls of toilet paper are donated weekly to local shelters.
The hotel’s commitment to green purchasing practices includes a partnership with Proctor & Gamble and ensures that almost all of our cleaning products are environmentally friendly. This, combined with a comprehensive recycling and composting program that includes E-waste items such as batteries, computers, telephones, radios and other electronics, yields in a 92% waste diversion rate. Further, as the hotel continues its restoration program from the lobby to the guest rooms, state-of-the-art technology will further its ongoing sustainability efforts.
These efforts to protect the environment extend beyond the hotel, as employee teams support the California Coastal Commission and participate in Heal the Bay beach clean-ups.
